The internet once again broke, this time for something that I think is much more worthy of my time and opinion. NYT came out with a piece interviewing the children of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, Jaden and Willow. In the interview topics ranged from prana energy ( a word that actually doesn't exist in my word processor), time and school. The internet responded to the interview with many calling these kids crazy, weird and other negative connotations. A few months back I made a Facebook post stating that in this society anything other than mediocrity will be met with trepidation, and that's exactly what the reactions to this interview are.
My first thoughts to this are; being in the public eye is a real daunting position to be in, I could not picture any one saying some of the comments i've read directed at this pair of 14 & 16 year olds being said to anyones child in their local neighborhoods. To call anyone crazy because their thoughts lay in a realm farther than your own can conceive is dismissive.
This quote from Jaden is just to fitting that I'll end this piece with that "Anything that you can shock somebody with. The only way to change something is to shock it. If you want your muscles to grow, you have to shock them. If you want society to change, you have to shock them."
